Jake's Song Of The Week-Memorial Day

JSOTW_1.jpg
Happy memorial day weekend everyone. It is the official start of the summer season here on the East Coast. Lines of cars, minivans, and convertibles will have already been celebrating on the jewel of the east coast we call The Jersey Shore. Roads will be packed, trunks will be crammed and many shore house owners will "Smell That Ocean"( an old quote by a lovable, yet twisted woman) for the very first time this year. There will be that guy at the beach that just couldnt manage to apply that sunscreen on right and will look like one of Grandma's Starlite Mints by the end of the day! There will be the college aged renters getting their livers in gear for what will be a very cirrhotic season.
It has been a pretty interesting few weeks. I've been a pool guy, a home health aid, a commercial food product developer, a grief counselor, an aggravated cook, and as always, a tequila enthusiast. I've had more hats on than Don Francisco during a Sabado Gigante marathon! But it's all good and I weathered the storm.
So what are we all supposed to do for Memorial Day? Besides for flying the flag half way, or playing Taps? We are supposed to reflect. So why not pick a song by a group that for most of us means looking back and remembering.
The Pet Shop Boys have been cranking out music for over 20 years and have sold over 50 million record. These two guys have always had such an edginess to their brand of cool. Slick, dancey, yet smart all at the same time. They put out a new CD in March called Yes. Im a bit late with this, but it's not like they get much radio play here in the U.S. anymore.
There is the link for the video.

There vids were never that exciting, but it's great to see the guys still putting out product.

Since grilling seems to be the thing to do this weekend, so I'm including another song. Nothing gets my parties moving more than some latin jazz. So I'm attaching a really fun cover version of a pop classic by a gent named Senor Coconut. Is that a great name or what?

Both songs are relatively short, so u should get the email with the two attachments. If not, I'll have to figure something out. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend and have a great week. I'm headed out for a few hours.
Cheers, Jake aka"Dj Foodguy"
